A plain dress shirt defers attention away from the colour and instead shows off the style and fit of the dress shirt. A plain dress shirt doesn’t necessarily mean it’s plain as different weaves can cleverly break up the colour to give it more depth.
For example; A plain white poplin dress shirt fabric has a very different look and feel from a plain white twill fabric or a plain white herringbone.
